Animal Cruelty offenders may have to pay up to $100 000 in fines

New penalties for those found guilty of animal cruelty are one of the focuses of the Miscellaneous Amendments Bill 2020. Attorney General Fari Al Rawi said that the new maximum penalty being proposed is a $100,000 fine and one year in prison.

This is just one of the measures proposed that is being debated in the House of Representatives today. The Attorney General opened the debate on the bill which also proposes amendments to 17 pieces of legislation.

The former penalty was a $400 fine or two months imprisonment.
