By Newsroom

The Johns Hopkins University- which tracks the daily increase on COVID-19 cases around the world,   confirmed on Sunday that the global number of confirmed cases globally has surpassed the 10 million mark.

The US remains at the top of the list for countries with the most number of cases reported, at 2.5 million.

The global death toll is 500,000, with more than five million people recovering.

Half the world’s cases have been in the US and Europe, but Covid-19 is now rapidly growing in the Americas.

The virus is also affecting South Asia and Africa, where it is not expected to peak until the end of July.

Outbreaks are still spreading in many parts of the world, with one million new cases recorded in the last six days.
