Police have arrested a man for possession of a firearm and ammunition in the Sea Lots district. The arrest which happened yesterday was carried out by the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Strike Team during a crime eradication exercise, in the Beetham and Sea Lots area from 9:00pm on Monday 2nd March, 2020 to 2:00am Tuesday 3rd March 2020. 

The TTPS stated that: “During the exercise, the party of officers searched several persons of interest, vehicles, empty lots, abandoned structures and drug blocks. At 11:30pm, while at Production Avenue, Sea Lots the officers were proceeding through a track in the said area when PC Balbosa observed a man running towards them with a firearm in his hand. PC Balbosa ordered the man to drop the firearm and he did.

The officer took possession of the Glock pistol firearm with an automatic firing selector fitted with a magazine containing 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The 22-year-old man, of Production Avenue, Sea Lots, is expected to be charged by PC Balbosa for the offences of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.”
