Another World Cup shocker as Japan beat Germany 2-1

By Shirvan Williams

There was another upset at the World Cup 2022, as Japan came from behind to record a stunning win against powerhouses Germany.

Germany scored first following an Ilkay Gundogan penalty in the first half. They had multiple chances after taking the lead but none of their attempts were on target. The game came to life in the second half as the Japanese pressed for an equalizer.

They would eventually find it through a wonderful strike from Ritsu Doan. In the 82nd minute, Takuma Asano, who plays for German side VfL Bochum, scored to make it 2-1 and a historic win for Japan who had never beaten the four time world champions before.
