Antigua’s Prime Minister to implement 24 hour curfew

By Newsroom

Antigua & Barbuda will soon be on a 24 hour curfew. Prime Minister Gaston Browne said the measure had become necessary to continue the fight against the COVID-19 virus.

He said the government took the decision because the limited curfew is not working. Browne made the announcement during the parliament’s historic first time virtual meeting. The curfew will be extended from 10 to 24 hours for next seven days beginning “one second after midnight on Thursday 2nd April, 2020.”

Browne said it is possible that Antigua could end up with over 1000 cases within the next two weeks. Antigua & Barbuda has seven confirmed cases on COVID-19 so far.
