Region Four has been declared to the incumbent APNU+AFC coalition by the Returning Officer (RO) for Region Four Clairmont Mingo. The decision is expected to be challenged by contesting parties as they object to the process used to take the count.

Guyana faces tough times ahead as yesterday the Organisation of American States, as well as a Western Delegation, who were present for election observation, left the counting of votes after they found the process to be unfair and there were reports of intimidation.

According to the count conducted by Mingo, the APNU+AFC won the Region with 136,057 votes, compared to 77,231 for the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), a margin of 58,826.
