BAIL DENIED: Ghislaine Maxwell Remanded Into Custody Until Start Of Trial In Epstein Sex Trafficking Matter

By Newsroom

The victims of disgraced US financier Jeffrey Epstein now have another chance at getting some kind of justice, with a trial date set for July 2021 for Epstein’s long time partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who is alleged to have played a soliciting role in his major sex trafficking ring.

Maxwell was denied bail when she virtually appeared before a New York judge on Tuesday- despite her lawyer’s voicing their concern that she could contract COVID-19 in the prison.

The British socialite, who was arrested on 2 July, faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.

She will be detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York until the start of the trial next year.

During Tuesday’s hearing, federal prosecutors said she was an “extreme” flight risk and should remain in custody.

Epstein died in prison on 10 August 2019 as he awaited his trial on sex trafficking charges, in apparent suicide.
