Beware Of Counterfeit Bills, TTPS Warns

By Newsroom

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is cautioning persons to be extra vigilant this holiday season, as it has noticed an uptick in counterfeit hundred dollar bills.

The TTPS advises that one means of verifying if the note is bonafide is by inspecting the window on the top left side of the bill, which should be plastic and not paper.

‘Take note: the clear plastic window cannot be reproduced on paper. Please check for the clear plastic window and be alert to reject any other window, white, or murky, which is how the counterfeit will be identified and defeated.’ the TTPS said in a tweet on Thursday.

The public is advised to alert the authorities if they are given counterfeit bills via 555, 999 or 800-TIPS.
