The search for missing Rio Claro fishermen Ismael Shael Mohammed,22 and Richard Ramlochan, 29, came to a sad end on Saturday as both men’s bodies washed ashore hours apart in Blanchisseuse.

The news was confirmed in a statement from police on Sunday,

In the first discovery, according to police reports, at 6 am on Saturday, a man was at Pineapple Cove Villas, Blanchisseuse, when he observed what appeared to be a body on the sand near the location.

Police were contacted and a party of officers of the Blanchisseuse Police Station arrived at the scene where they spotted the body of a male of mixed descent on the sand. The body was later identified to be that of 22-year-old Ismael Shael Mohammed by his relatives. He was pronounced dead by the district medical officer.

In the second incident, at 1.50 pm the same day, police were again alerted to the sighting of another body, this time at Damien Bay, Blanchisseuse.

Upon arrival, the responding officers observed the body of a male of East Indian descent. The body was later identified as 29-year-old Richard Ramlochan. He was also pronounced dead by the district medical officer.

Police mounted a two-day search for the men, however, efforts including those by the Air Support Unit, proved futile.
