Body Of Missing Fisherman Washes Ashore

The search for missing fisherman Andrew Volman ended tragically on Tuesday morning as his body washed ashore, nearly two days after he was thrown overboard by bandits who took off with his vessel.

Volman, of Lady Hailes Avenue in San Fernando, was found in La Brea, where he had gone fishing on Sunday night.

Another man, who was also a victim of the robbery, managed to make it ashore on Monday. 

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard has confirmed that Volman’s vessel has been recovered.

Meanwhile, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds has engaged heads of a couple fishing Associations, regarding repeated attacks on fishermen at sea.

Hinds met on Monday with Imitaz Khan, President of the Carli Bay Fishing Association and Mr. Necolson Seecharan, President of the Claxton Bay Fishing Association, as well as Couva South MP Rudy Indarsingh at the Ministry of National Security,Temple Court.

The representatives put forward various recommendations as they reaffirmed their call for greater marine security.
