Boogsie Returns With His Own Music

By Newsroom

Boogsie Sharpe has returned to composing music for Phase 2 Pan Groove after a two-year stint at arranging popular soca music.

The legendary steelpan arranger and composer released Vision 2020 on Friday morning with Olatunji Yearwood doing the vocals.

Boogsie last composed music for Phase 2 in 2017 when the band played Red, White and Black.

For the last two years,  Sharpe arranged Kes’ Hello and  Swappi’s Party start.

This will make a significant difference in the competition since almost all large bands have declared popular soca selections as their tune of choice.

While Boogie composed the music, the lyrics for the song which will take Phase Two Pan Groove to the 2020 Panorama competition were written by Chris Morris.

Sharpe has been composing music for Phase 2 since 1977.

In the last 42 years, the band has only played other people’s compositions on four occasions including 1994 and 1995 when the records show the band played Ray Holman’s music.
