A 16-year-old boy was arrested and a quantity of marijuana and cash seized by police officers during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Eastern Division on Wednesday .
The exercise was supervised Sgt Harper and included officers of Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department, Eastern Division Task Force, and the Emergency Response Patrol.
During the exercise, a 16-year-old boy was observed by the officers to be acting in a suspicious manner. A knapsack in his possession was checked and found to contain seven packets, each containing marijuana, with a total weight 5.5kg.
He was arrested for the offence of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Officers also executed a search warrant for Firearms and Ammunition at a house located along Rampersad Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
During the search, $28,700 cash was found and seized by Sgt Harper pending further enquiries subject to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
