Caroni Water Treatment Plant Shut Down As WASA Investigates Poor Supply From Caroni River

By Newsroom

The Caroni Water Treatment Plant was shutdown earlier today, due to concerns about extremely poor water quality in the Caroni River.

The Water and Sewerage Authority, WASA, says this appears to be due to an illegal discharge upstream of the intake of the plant.

The Authority is currently conducting investigations to determine the source.

Until the matter is resolved, residents in parts of North, Central and South Trinidad will be without water.
