Charge Laid Against Country’s First Omicron Case

By Newsroom

A charge has been laid against Jonelle John, this country’s first confirmed case of the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

The 33 year old woman will appear before an Arima Magistrate on April 19th, charged with failing to submit a negative PCR test to enter the country, in breach of the Quarantine Act.

John boarded a flight from New York and then Panama to Trinidad last December, and was immediately sent into quarantine after it was confirmed she tested positive for Omicron.
