Chief Secretary Farley Augustine Extends Condolences on the Passing of Carlos Dillon

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has extended his condolences to the family and friends of Carlos Dillon on his passing on Monday, October 30th.

In a statement, Farley said:

“The Chief Secretary described Mr Dillon as a steady advocate and spokesman for the development of the tourism industry in Tobago. He said, “Mr. Dillon’s work in Tourism underscored how valuing one’s culture and heritage creates a solid foundation in which long- standing initiatives and progress can be built. His legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come.”

Mr Dillon served for more than 50 years within the hospitality sector, and was the former President of the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association, the first director/principal of the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute, and director of the Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute. In addition, he was a member of several local business associations and served within the public sector on various boards and committees, including the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited.

In 2008, he was the recipient of the Hummingbird Medal Gold in the sphere of Tourism. Chief Secretary Augustine said Mr Dillon will be remembered for the significant contribution he has made to our island’s development.”
