Clean-up Efforts Underway After Damage From Overnight Heavy Winds

By Newsroom

Disaster management units are on the ground responding to damages caused by adverse weather overnight.

Several families in the south and central areas, especially, reported damage to their homes, with heavy winds blowing off roofs in some instances.

Power outages have also been reported in several areas in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) says large-area outages currently exist on the North Coast, from Maracas to Blanchisseuse, Rampanalgas and Mathura. However, the Commission says supply has been restored in several areas, including Manzanilla, some parts of Sangre Grande, Santa Cruz, Malabar, Crown Point and parts of Mason Hall in Tobago.

The Met Service’s Yellow level Adverse Weather Alert has been extended until 6pm today.
