Three Coast guardsmen are due to appear before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of 34-year-old Teddy Richards Sylvester. 

The victim was kidnapped from his Cameron Hill, Maraval home on January 9th and found dead four days later.

The officers were detained in connection with the incident last Wednesday, with the DPP giving instruction for charges to be laid overnight.

They were detained last Wednesday for questioning by a joint team of homicide and anti-kidnapping officers, linked to the killing of the Maraval man.

Following their arrests, a release from the Defence Force issued a statement confirming the incident, adding it was   “assisting police in the investigations and will continue to do so as required.”
