CoP Announces 15 No Protest Zones

Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro has established 15 no-protest zones under a new Emergency Powers Order. This means that public demonstrations within 500 metres of 15 key State institutions have been deemed unlawful. The move comes following the arrest of three people, including protest organiser Allysa Phillip on Wednesday.

The Emergency Powers (Prohibition of Public Protests and Demonstrations) Order, 2026, prohibits persons participating in a public protest or demonstration from being at, or within 500 metres of, the following locations:

1. Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago

2. Office of the President

3. Office of the Prime Minister

4. Diplomatic Centre

5. Office of the Attorney General

6. Ministry of Finance

7. Ministry of Defence

8. Ministry of Homeland Security

9. Trinidad and Tobago Police Service headquarters and all police stations in Trinidad and Tobago

10. Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service headquarters and all prisons and detention centres in Trinidad and Tobago

11. Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force headquarters and all army bases and barracks in Trinidad and Tobago

12. Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions

13. Piarco International Airport

14. ANR Robinson International Airport

15. Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago
