Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher immediately called a high-powered meeting comprising following the murder of four people over the weekend in Cocorite. Present at the meeting were, Deputy Commissioners of Operations and Intelligence and Investigations, the ACP Criminal Division, the Head of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, the Head of the Special Investigations Unit and heads of several other Operational Units.
According to the TTPS, all 12 persons were gathered on the eastern side of Building F, Phase 1, Powder Magazine, Cocorite, around 11 pm, on Saturday 4th May 2024, when a dark-coloured motor vehicle approached them. It is alleged that two armed men then exited the vehicle and opened fire on the group before returning to the vehicle and escaping.
The eight wounded victims, ages 19 to 39, all of the area, were taken to the St. James Medical Centre for treatment and then transferred to another institution.
