COVID-19 Diagnosis Was “A Blessing From God” says Trump

By Newsroom

US President Donald Trump appears to be of the view that his recent COVID-19 diagnosis has given him an advantage in how he is able to respond to the pandemic.

The United States continues to hold the title as the nation with the highest number of COVID-19 cases, with nearly 7.6 cases confirmed and 211,000 deaths.

On Wednesday, Trump called it a “blessing from God” that he was diagnosed with the virus, praising the therapeutic drugs that he credits with helping him in his recovery. The president called the therapeutics a “cure” for him, even though there is no cure for viruses like COVID-19. “I feel great. I feel like, perfect,” the president said in a four-minute video. “I think this was a blessing from God, that I caught it. This was a blessing in disguise. I caught it, I heard about this drug, I said let me take it, it was my suggestion. I said, let me take it. And it was incredible the way it worked, incredible. And I think if I didn’t catch it, we’d be looking at that like a number of other drugs. But it really did a fantastic job. I want to get for you what I got. I’m going to make it free, you’re not going to pay for it,” he said.

He was referring to Regeneron, an experimental treatment that has rarely been used outside clinical trials.

Repeating his rhetoric of blaming China for the virus, Trump tweeted on Wednesday: “Just spoke with Prime Minister @BorisJohnson of the United Kingdom. Very thankful for his friendship and support as I recovered from the China Virus. I am looking forward to working with him for many years to come, a great guy!”
