Covid-19 Patients Being Treated With Ivermectin By Private Doctors, Says Health Minister

By Newsroom

Doctors and nurses in the public health sector are now having to deal with Covid-19 patients being admitted to the parallel healthcare system in urgent need of oxygen, after being treated by private doctors with drugs such as Ivermectin.

This was revealed by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, durin Saturday’s media conference.

Ivermectin, a drug used to treat parasites in large animals such as horses, has been condemned by the World Health Organization as it relates to treatment of Covid-19.

“And what the doctors are telling me, is that patients are being treated by their private sector doctors at home with a combination of the following drugs- Ivermectin… antibiotics… together with alternative medicine. And what they reported to me, these patients are now hypoxic at home (lacking oxygen) for three to five days before calling the ambulance. And when they reach to the hospital system, they need to go immediately into ICU. And very often the ambulance has to go 2-3 times to the same house,” the Health Minister said.

The net hospital admissions over the past week was 91, compared to last week’s 56, she revealed with concern.

In the ICU in Trinidad, 53 of the 61 available beds are filled. 49 of those patients are unvaccinated.

The Minister urged the unvaccinated public to take the WHO approved Covid-19 vaccine instead of un-authorized treatments.
