Death by natural causes

By Newsroom

Zara Ali was six months pregnant when her body was found, motionless, on the floor of the bedroom at the family home in Gasparillo on Boxing Day.

It was her six-year-old son who found her, seven hours after she had gone to bed around 10 30 on Christmas night.

But an autopsy found that death was due to abruptio placentae.

“Placental abruption occurs when the placenta partially or completely separates from the inner wall of the uterus before delivery. This can decrease or block the baby’s supply of oxygen and nutrients and cause heavy bleeding in the mother.

“Placental abruption often happens suddenly. Left untreated, it endangers both the mother and baby,” the Mayo Clinic explains.
