Desalcott Plant Shutdown Extended For Another Day

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers in Central and South-West Trinidad, currently affected by the planned shutdown at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant that, there has been a delay in the completion of maintenance works at the facility.

The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Desalcott), has advised the Authority that works on the Plant are expected to be completed by 12:00 noon on Sunday and the Plant ramped up to full production of 40 million gallons per day (mgd) by 12:00 midnight.

The Authority further advises customers that the temporary water supply schedules, implemented at the commencement of the disruption on Monday 8th November, will remain in effect until the Plant resumes full operations.

Customers are asked to manage their stored water use efficiently, as it may take up to 48 hours for the supply to normalize to some affected areas, after the Plant returns to full operation.

For further information or assistance, customers are encouraged to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/26. A limited truck borne water service will be available with priority given to special homes, health care and educational institutions.

The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience caused as a result of this situation at the Desalination Plant.
