Dominican Republic To Resume Tourism July 1st

By Lillian Searles

The Dominican Republic has confirmed that its tourism industry will resume on July 1st.

This means the return of international flights, and restaurant and hotel reopenings, in an effort to keep up with other Caribbean islands reopening this summer.

Social distancing and face-covering requirements remain in effect to slow the spread of coronavirus.

The reopening plan consists of four phases, of which two have already taken place. Phase three, which begins on June 17th, allows for small and micro-businesses with up to 50 employees to be able to work with 100% of their staff, while companies with more than 50 workers will have up to 75% of your template. Also, from this phase, religious services may be held three times a week.

Phase four, which is scheduled to begin on July 1st, allows all companies to resume work,  including tourism, opening hotels and airports, as well as gyms and restaurant dining rooms.

The Dominican Republic has been the hardest hit nation in the Caribbean with over 500 Covid-19 deaths.
