A father of two, Daniel Sooklal, was murdered during what is believed to have been a robbery gone wrong  short­ly be­fore mid­night on Thurs­day.

Sook­lal, 30, was selling  dou­bles along with with his wife Azeema and a 19-year-old employee when the men approached and announced a hold-up.

They all tried to run but the gun­man opened fire, and Sooklal was shot. He died at the scene. Both the wife and the employee escaped injuries.

Sooklal of Gasparillo owned several double stalls in parts of South Trinidad.
