By Newsroom

The Elections and Boundaries Commission wishes to advise that all national identification cards issued by the Commission, which are currently expired or due to expire in 2020, will now be valid until June 30 th , 2021.

This extension has become necessary to facilitate an anticipated increased level of renewals and the introduction of a new format identification card under new protocols, which are required for health and safety considerations under the current Pandemic situation.

This extension of the expiry date of identification cards is instituted in accordance with Registration Rules 31 (5) and (6) of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01.and is a further extension to that, which was implemented earlier this year.

All persons with an expired national identification card can call our offices from Monday December 21 st 2020 to make an appointment to commence the renewal process. Appointments are scheduled to begin on January 4 th , 2021.

In order to facilitate the increased level of transactions and provide an improved level of customer service our offices will operate with extended working hours for a three month period. This will include offices being open to the public on Saturdays to facilitate walk-ins for renewals.

Please visit the EBC’s website at www.ebctt.com for a listing of the telephone contacts and the procedure for these renewals. We urge you to bring all relevant documentation with you to these appointments to ensure the swiftest completion of the process.
