Eight people were arrested, and quantities of ammunition and narcotics were seized during a Joint State of Emergency exercise conducted in the Arima Police District, Northern Division North, yesterday.
According to the TTPS, the operation was conducted between 9:00 p.m. on March 12th, 2026 and 4:00 a.m. on March 13th, 2026. During the exercise, officers conducted targeted operations in La Retreat Road, Calvary Hill, Blanchisseuse Road, Bye Pass Road, the Eastern Main Road, the Arima/Wallerfield District and the Arima Central Business District.
Four houses were searched, and roadblocks were established throughout the targeted districts. Eight persons were arrested for a range of offences, including wounding, possession of ammunition, outstanding warrants and trafficking in cannabis.
Among those arrested were three men from La Retreat Road, Arima, who were held in connection with a wounding incident involving PC Quashie. Officers also arrested a man from Springland Road, Gasparillo, who was found in possession of 22.52 grams of cannabis, while three persons from the Jacob Hill district were arrested for possession of fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Additionally, two individuals were held for outstanding warrants issued in the Tunapuna District.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Singh, W/Senior Superintendent Maynard-Wilson, Superintendent McKenzie and ASP Ablacksingh, and coordinated with officers of the Arima Criminal Investigation Department, Arima Intelligence Unit, Arima Operations Team and the Arima Charge Room.
