Eighteen people arrested in overnight TTPS exercises

The TTPS has arrested 18 suspects and seized one revolver, four rounds of ammunition, 388 grams of narcotics and a stolen vehicle following several overnight intelligence-led exercises. overnight

The seizures and recovery came targeted at known priority offenders in the Eastern, Northern and Southern Divisions.

According to the TTPS:

“In the first operation conducted in the Southern Division, police officers attached to the Task Force, executed five search warrants as part of a firearms and narcotics removal thrust in the San Fernando, Princes Town and Barrackpore districts which resulted in one silver wooden handle revolver being found in some bushy area under a galvanise in a black plastic bag along the GP Road, Barrackpore.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Division, police officers attached to the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Task Force, Process Staff and the Canine Branch, launched an anti-crime exercise during which police allegedly seized four rounds of 12 gauge cartridges, 384 grammes of marijuana and four grammes of cocaine.”

A 22-year-old man from Mafeking Village, Mayaro, was also arrested in connection with this seizure.

Five other men – ages 35, 36, 42, 47 and 67, all of Mayaro – who had various outstanding warrants were also arrested. Eleven other suspects, all with warrants for their arrests, were also arrested by officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station.

The suspects, all men, ranges in ages 27 to 59. In the last exercise, Northern Division police conducted several raids of residential buildings in Maloney Gardens. During the operation led by the Maloney CID, police detectives recovered a brown Nissan Almera which was reported stolen from the San Juan district yesterday.

A 17-year-old boy was held in connection with this operation.

Investigations are ongoing into all matters.
