The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago has added its voice to the recent developments surrounding the purchase of the Petrotrin refinery, and calls on government to have the matter concluded in an expeditious manner.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Chamber said it has been monitoring the recent announcements from both the Government and from the OWTU with respect to the proposal from Patriotic Energies and Technologies Ltd and the decision to re-establish the Evaluation Committee to review the latest proposal.

“We continue to encourage all stakeholders to move expeditiously to find a solution to complete the sale of the assets to a private-sector entity so they will be able togenerate value for Trinidad and Tobago,” the Chamber said.

The Chamber has pledged full support of government’s move to privatize the refinery, and says this will generate jobs and stimulate economic activity.
