Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart R. Young, has fired back at an article supposedly written by Curtis Williams under a Reuters’ publication titled, “Trinidad prepared to reject BP, Shell offshore exploration bids.”

According to a statement from the minister, the article is false and an intentionally
misleading story.

“Once again, this particular author has gotten his story wrong in his continued efforts to mislead not only the population of Trinidad and Tobago but now so, a wider global audience with this intentionally misleading story published by Reuters today. (Dec. 28)”

Minister Young further stated that the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries
will be engaging in discussions and negotiations with both bpTT and Shell Trinidad and Tobago with respect to their bids for four deepwater blocks.

“Despite this open-source information, Curtis Williams has intentionally authored a false story and unfortunately used Reuters as his publication platform. Both bpTT and Shell Trinidad and Tobago were informed weeks ago that the Ministry would be engaging them in discussions and negotiations pertaining to their bids for the four deepwater blocks and the parties are expected to commence these discussions and negotiations in January 2023.”
