Firearms Seized: Police Make Arrests In Couva And Toco

A 20 year old Cumana man was arrested during a police exercise in the Toco district on Saturday, after he was found in possession of a homemade shotgun and seven rounds of 16 gauge cartridges ammunition.

Meanwhile on Friday, Central Division officers detained one man who they say pointed a firearm in their direction.

Officers attached to the Couva CID were on patrol at Flamingo Avenue in Lisas Gardens, when they observed a dark colored vehicle parked along the roadway. The driver allegedly sped off as the police convoy approached, prompting a brief chase.

The suspect eventually surrendered and  was arrested for offences including possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and common assault.

Earlier that night, officers also arrested one man after a search warrant revealed 65 marijuana plants at his home.
