Five men arrested after high speed chase in the Trincity area

Five men were arrested by police with a firearm and a quantity of ammunition following a high speed pursuit in the Trincity area, late last night.

According to the TTPS: “At 11:35pm on Thursday 5th March, 2020 PCs Morang, Mc Carthy and Gaffoor of the Northern Division Task Force were on mobile patrol along Cane Farm Road, Trincity in the vicinity of Seventh Street West when they spotted a white Honda civic being driven in a reckless manner.

The officers gave chase to the vehicle which was eventually brought to a stop along Trincity Boulevard. Upon approaching the vehicle, it then sped off and the chase continued.

The vehicle was again intercepted at the intersection of the Priority Bus Route and Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna. There, the officers had cause to search the vehicle in which they discovered five male occupants, a Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Shield Pistol and a quantity of ammunition in the centre console.”

The five male suspects, three 20-year-olds, a 23-year-old, a 27-year old and 29-year old, of the Tunapuna, San Juan and Arouca areas, were immediately detained pending further enquiries into the finds.
