Five Private Labs Denied Accreditation for COVID-19 Testing.

By Newsroom

Five private labs in Trinidad and Tobago applied for accreditation to conduct COVID-19 tests as requested by the Minister of Health a couple of weeks ago. However, none was approved as Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh told the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon.

When asked whether the Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA, is an accredited body for labs,  the Minister responded by saying that CARPHA may not have the legal authority, but all labs will be subjected to quality assurance process by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) .’” We do not want to make mistakes with false negatives as we have already received,” the Minister of Health said.
