Food Sector To Reopen From July 19th, As PM Rowley Announces A Few Relaxation Of Restrictions

By Newsroom

On the backdrop of an accelerated vaccination program, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley on Saturday announced that restaurants will be allowed to resume operation from July 19th, as part of the move to slowly relax Public Health Restrictions.

As he made the announcement, he noted that this would only allow curbside, delivery and drive-through options.

He noted that the decision was made to have the regulation relaxed on a Monday and not a Friday or weekend, stating: “I know my people”.

To this end, the Prime Minister urged people to continue to follow distancing and sanitization rules while venturing out.

“Yes, I know you’re missing the doubles and so on,” he said.

In addition to the food and beverage sector resuming operation, the PM also announced that exercising in public spaces can resume, effective July 19th.

Masks must be worn, and groups of no more than five are permitted.

Team sports are still banned, however.

From July 12th, retail car dealership sales can also resume.
