By Shirvan Williams

Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy along with the National AIDS Coordinating Committee, have come together to distribute instruments of appointment to members of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Advisory Group on January 16, 2024.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry’s Head Office in St. Clair.

According to the Ministry,

The appointees include representatives from social services, education, legal, judicial, and health sectors, as well as UN Women. The Advisory group is responsible for the development of the first Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan (WPS-NAP) for Trinidad and Tobago.

The WPS Agenda recognizes the role women play as active agents of peace and stability, and seeks to further support and expand upon the many positive ways that women are, and can be, leading ineffective responses to security challenges.
