GI beat out 23 other competitors last night to become this year’s Chutney Soca Monarch winner. GI, whose real name is Imran Beharry, won the competition with his rendition, “Anna Anna”. The Chutney Soca Monarch was held at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre and was free to the public this year as they celebrated their 25th Anniversary.

The competition was tight as GI scored 403 points while Veekash Sahadeo, got 400 points for his song “Lonely”. Third place went to last year’s winner, Nishard M.
