The 78th Golden Globe Awards kicked off the 2021 Hollywood awards season on Sunday after being delayed for nearly two months by the coronavirus pandemic.
Hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, they presented remotely from separate locations. Fey presented from the Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center in New York City and Poehler hosted from The Beverly Hilton in California, where the awards ceremony is traditionally held.
The only in-person audience was frontline and essential workers invited to watch.
Chadwick Boseman posthumously received the award for best actor in a drama for what became his final movie role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
Netflix dominated the nominations list with 42 total nods, honouring Mank, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Queen’s Gambit and The Crown. Amazon and Hulu followed with 10 nods each.
Netflix’s “The Crown” also garnered six nominations, the most for any television series this year as well. The historical drama took home awards for best drama, best actress, best actor and best supporting actress.
The Crown landed more nominations than any other TV show with six honors, followed by Schitt’s Creek with five.
