“Good Job, TTPS”: Business Chamber Backs Police Response To Protest Action

By Newsroom

The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce is praising what it calls the “excellent” work done by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to quell protests in the capital city on Tuesday.

“We believe that the pre-emptive action taken has minimized the threat to safety and the damage to property,”said Chamber President Reyad Ahamad in a statement.

Tuesday’s intense action across Port of Spain saw several clashes with police; one woman was fatally shot in Beetham Gardens by an officer- a matter that Police Commissioner Gary Griffith said is being investigated.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will remain on a Red Alert over the next 48 hours, as officers anticipate more resistance.
