After returning to the open market to find a suitable entity to purchase the Petrotrin Refinery, government is now in talks with a preferred bidder after accepting final proposals in April. 

This latest update came from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during Monday’s sitting of the House of Representatives.

“TPHL has identified a preferred bidder and is currently pursuing discussions with this entity,” the PM said in response to a question to Opposition MP David Lee. 

No timeline as to when a sale will be completed was not provided, nor was the name of the bidder in talks with TPHL.

The government returned to the open market in 2021, having turned down the Patriotic Energies and Technologies Ltd- the company whole owned by the OWTU- on three separate occasions.
