Government To Allocate Spaces In YAHP Program To Youth Impacted By Crime

By Newsroom

The Youth Development Ministry has agreed to allocate 15 percent of spots for the next cohort of its Youth Agricultural Homestead Program to young people who are directly impacted by crime.

Youth Minister Foster Cummings says this development comes after the Victim and Witness Support Unit of the TTPS made a request for partnership.

“This letter (from the TTPS Unit) demonstrates unequivocally that the approach to fighting crime must be multi-pronged and inter-disciplinary. A placement in this social project will certainly have far-reaching consequences towards changing the trajectory of our young people who have become vulnerable to crime,” Minister Cummings said.

Under the YAHP program, graduates will earn accreditation in farming, supported with access to state lands for farming and housing.
