Grenada announces Limited State of Emergency

By Newsroom

Grenada has declared a Limited State of Emergency (SOE) as they try to stop any spread of the Covid-19 virus. Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell made the announcement today and said that he had asked the Governor General, Dame Cecile La Grenade, to declare it.

The limited SOE will remain in effect for 21 days and started at 6:00 pm today. It comes after Grenada confirmed its first positive COVID case, a 50-year-old female who had returned to the island from the United Kingdom. Her condition has been deemed serious.

A curfew will be implemented from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am daily, and essential workers including medical/healthcare professionals, public servants in specific divisions will be allowed some exemptions.
