GUILTY VERDICT: Justice For Victims As R.Kelly Convicted Of Racketeering, Sexual Abuse

By Newsroom

The men and women who were sexually assaulted and trafficked by disgraced R&B singer R.Kelly could breathe a collective sigh of relief, as the 54 year old singer was convicted on all of his assault charges.

The trial, which featured hours of graphic testimony from the singer’s accusers, came to an end on Monday.

“Today’s guilty verdict forever brands R. Kelly as a predator, who used his fame and fortune to prey on the young, the vulnerable, and the voiceless for his own sexual gratification,” Acting U.S. Attorney Kasulis said in a statement.

“To the victims in this case, your voices were heard, and justice was finally served. We hope that today’s verdict brings some measure of comfort and closure to the victims,” Kasulis added.

The singer, whose real name is Robert Kelly, faces decades in prison. He is due to be sentenced in May of next year.

Kelly “didn’t say much of anything” after the verdict was announced, the singer’s lawyer Deveraux Cannick told reporters. “He was shocked.”
