Two gunmen made their way inside the Belmont Secondary School today, assaulting one of the security officers who were on site.

It is believed the pair was able to get onto the compound through a breach near a farm area located close to the school’s building.

Thankfully no students were harmed and the security officer escaped with his life, as the men made their own escape as he tried to raise an alarm.

Speaking in the Parliament this afternoon, Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby Dolly said counselling support will be provided for students who may be traumatized after the incident.

Following the incident, the school’s PTA have called on the Education Minister to visit the Belmont Secondary School and see for herself, how students and staff are at risk.
