Guyanese National Held, Thousand of Camo Items Seized

Police have seized thousands of camouflage items, including clothing and caps, following the execution of a search warrant in Port of Spain yesterday.

According to police reports, between 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., officers conducted an exercise in the downtown Port of Spain area based on information received. The exercise involved the execution of a search warrant at a location on Frederick Street, Port of Spain in the presence of a 39-year-old female Guyanese national, who was named on the warrant.

During the search, a quantity of camouflage clothing was found and seized. Officers then proceeded to an adjoining warehouse located on Queen Street, Port of Spain where a quantity of camouflage clothing was also found.

The items seized included 1,282 camouflage caps, 233 camouflage pants, 127 camouflage fisher hats, 21 pairs of camouflage slippers, 13 camouflage t-shirts, and one camouflage bag. The items were handed over to the Customs and Excise Office and the woman was detained for further questioning. Enquiries are continuing.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Alexander and Supt Spence, coordinated by ASP Ramesar and Insp Steele, and supervised by Sgt Mohammed. It included Cpls Mitchell and Simeon, PCs Marcial, Romeo, Fermine, Deo, Dowridge, and Nanan as well as Customs and Excise Officer Two Semper and Customs and Excise Officer One Thom.
