“I Gave No Directive”: PM Rowley Denounces Farley’s Claim Of Involvement In Home Searches Of THA Officials

Simpler times: Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine meet for cordial talks in early 2022

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says he gave no instruction to police to conduct searches of the homes of THA officials earlier this week.

The claim was made by Chief Secretary Farley Augustine during a special sitting of the Tobago House of Assembly on Wednesday morning, as he detailed an apparent plan to undermine the democracy and integrity of the THA.

“I state, without fear of contradiction, that this purported meeting wherein I supposedly directed the Commissioner of Police to take certain action, never occurred. As far as I am concerned it is a pure fanciful fabrication by person/s for their own nefarious purposes,” the PM said in a statement responding the Chief Secretary’s accusations.

He further rubbished claims that he met with the PDP’s Akil Abdulah or Inspector Weaver Abdulah to undermine the THA.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher also shut down Chief Secretary’s allegation that she was given a directive by central government to have officers search the homes of THA officials.

In an emergency briefing this afternoon, Commissioner Harewood-Christopher said the TTPS acted on its own deliberate judgment.
