From tomorrow, March 1st, commuters who travel the Sangre Grande to Port of Spain Route will have to pay a $4 increase in their fare.
The Sangre Grande/POS Taxi Association says the increase is in hopes of offsetting the losses incurred by drivers due to the Covid-19 Regulations which allows a reduced number of passengers at 75% capacity.
Association President Maurice Eligon noted that the reduced capacity has significantly reduced drivers’ income.
“Several drivers have lost financially ranging from $100 to $200 and due to this the Association has made a decision to increase the fare from $16 to $20 effective March 1st,” Eligon said.
