Contact tracing and testing is ongoing within the prison system after one inmate tested positive at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.

This was revealed by Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds, during Monday’s Covid-19 press briefing. 

“That individual, having been identified and confirmed, you will expect and you will note that additional testing and contact tracing etc will be carried out and that the number from the prison system may be updated.  But at this point in time just the one that would have been identified is the only one that currently exists within that system,” Dr. Hinds said.

According to the Ministry of Health’s latest Covid-19 statistical update, there are 7,977 cases on record, with the number of active cases rising to 240.

In the hospitals there are now 14patients, with 199 others in self isolation.
