Investigation Launched Following Viral Video Of Off-Duty Cop Arresting Traffic Warden

By Newsroom

Acting Top Cop Erla Christopher has ordered an immediate investigation into a viral video posted to social media, which shows an off-duty police officer making a bizarre arrest of a female traffic warden along Frederick Street in the heart of the capital.

The Professional Standards Bureau is leading the investigation.

“The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is confirming that the man seen in the viral video incident with a female traffic warden is a police officer of the TTPS,” a statement confirmed on Monday.

By-standers alleged the traffic warden had stopped the off-duty officer, who was driving his private vehicle, and asked him to present his license and registration. The man is alleged to have become hostile with the traffic warden, refusing to provide the requested document.

“The Acting Commissioner immediately instructed that an investigation be launched surrounding the circumstances seen in the video footage,” the statement from the TTPS read.
