Investigation Launched Into Kangaroo’s Health Condition, Says Agriculture Ministry

By Newsroom

Images of a red kangaroo in a visibly poor condition at the Emperor Valley Zoo has attracted the attention of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries.

Responding to outrage about the animal’s condition, the Ministry said a veterinary team has been appointed to assess the animal’s health and well-being.

The animal first arrived at the zoo back 2022, following the closure of another facility. At that time, the animal was reported to be between 15 and 20 years old.

Red Kangaroos typically live up to ten years in the wild and they can live up to 25 years in captivity.
