JAMAICA: Beenie Man Pleads Guilty To Breaching Covid Rules, Says He’s Not Above The Law

Jamaican dancehall legend Beenie Man pleaded guilty to breaching the country’s Covid-19 guidelines by hosting a party last November.

Beenie, whose real name is Moses Davis, appeared before the  St Elizabeth Parish Court on Monday. 

He was charged with the offence last December, after turning himself in to police.

The 47 year old dancehall star hosted an illegal party at a location in Shrewsbury district, St Elizabeth, on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

He will be sentenced on May 17.

Following his court appearance, he told The Jamaican Gleaner he believed it was best to lead by example and take responsibility for his actions.

“Mi nuh wah nobody fi feel like mi above the law so we affi deal wid dat right and mek Jamaica feel safe and mek di people dem know dat we wid dem,” he said.
